Since the 1870s, the family has tended the same soil in Cass County using sustainable, environmentally sound practices, where pastures, woodlands, and cropland work together to support a healthy ecosystem and produce nutrient-dense, flavorful meat. Today their meats reach families and businesses across Michigan, Indiana, and Illinois, along with customers nationwide who value regenerative farming and quality food.
The farm's standards have been developed over generations, alongside trusted and informed customers. Heritage breed genetics have been preserved for over 40 years to raise animals that thrive outdoors, with quality fat cover, full flavor, and nutrient density. The animals are raised on pasture or in woodlands where they live in their natural habitat, foraging for grass, bugs, berries, and nuts, supplemented with non-GMO grain that the farm grows and grinds itself.
Animals are rotated regularly through the pastures to encourage natural fertilization, rest, and renewal, which supports nutrient-rich meat with higher Omega 3 fatty acids, improved flavor, and a firm yet juicy texture. Jake's Country Meats raises its animals with no antibiotics ever, no GMOs, and no mRNA or RNA vaccine technologies, offering naturally cured meats using celery and beets in place of synthetic nitrates, along with sugar-free and MSG-free, filler-free options.
The farm is third-party audited and carries Animal Welfare Approved, Certified Grassfed by A Greener World, and MAEAP environmental certifications.
